llio sophia [they/them/theirs] is a non-binary neorodivergent artist who has lived and exhibited their work on four continents. On the precipice of 30, they are currently finishing up their first book. llio has curated shows locally, nationally, and internationally. They received a BFA in Studio Art with concentrations in Sculpture, Photography, and Global Studies from New York University and an MFA in Performance with a focus in Writing and Spoken Word from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

llio has held the positions of Technical Specialist in the New York University Abu Dhabi Visual Art Department; Community Ambassador Manager and Exhibitions Coordinator at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts; and numerous Curatorial Assistant roles spanning Chicago and NYC.

llio was an artist in residence at De Liceiras 18, Temporary.show, and they have been invited to be a resident at Fish Factory Creative Center of Stöðvarfjörður. llio’s installation art has been presented in the 10th anniversary of the Water Tower Art Festival, their writing has been published by Headway Lit and in a car on a road going to a place, their sound art has been featured by Signal to Noise, and their performance work was presented in the IMPACT Performance Festival. Their work has been written up by Electra Street and Studium Artium Magazin.

With a dedication to using art as a vehicle for community building, llio cherishes their position as captain dream schemer of the neighbors.

llio prefers their name to be all lowercase. Though they often have to make it all capitals to let people know it’s a double L at the beginning. It’s pronounced Lee-Oh (like the lion, like the astrology sign). llio is an aquarius.
